Civics 101

Civics 101 is an event designed to foster municipal education and greater civic consciousness among Volusia area citizens.  It helps to educate our citizens on engagement and participation in the legislative process through advocacy.

Daytona Beach Shores Mayor Nancy Miller and Ponce Inlet Mayor Lois Paritsky explained the state legislative process, went over bills of local interest, and shared the importance of advocacy and voting at Coffee with the Mayor on Jan. 12, 2022 at the Shores Community Center. The two mayors highlighted the Volusia League of Cities and Florida League of Cities as valuable resources for following the Legislative Session and overall advocacy during the Civics 101 program. They also provided a list of legislators who represent Volusia County and their contact information.
